    Cora's match from today 4/27/13

Apologies my friends. We don't have any highlight videos for you this time. You see Cora got taken out of the tournament by a boy who's wearing a huge cup. He was attempting an armbar on her and she was about to escape when her forearm got crushed by the cup. She said something pop in her forearm and not the elbow. What the sad part is, she trains so hard everyday to prepare for this tournament only to be taken out like that. She get caught in armbars all the time and able to get out, but this time it was the cup. That same boy use that cup to face crush the next kid he went against. Yeah it was a tough day for her, in the video she didn't cry yet, until she got off the mat... Yall know she's been choked out and triangled, but she never cry. But this time she couldn't hold in the pain...

Really hope it's nothing serious. At least she was smart enough to tap out as soon as it happened.

At my old gym I had a guy fracture two of my ribs using his cup as a pressure point while he squeezed me with a body triangle from the back. The guys at Chicago North would never do that and it is the reason that some tournaments do not even allow cups. They can be used against an opponent which sucks. I hope she is okay!

I wore a cup for my first wrestling match. After I got done throwing up, I have never worn once since.

Not sure how bad it is but she is still guarding it. She says the pain is coming from just above her wrist on the forearm. Yeah its quite a learning experience. These kids are pulling guard on her all the time now. I think we need to drill the black mamba to death to eliminate all the guard pulling. Lately these boys are just too strong, once they have wrist control they pull her in. Need to eliminate all this. ANd never fight a kid with a cup on again.

When all is said and done the guy has a right to protect himself there. He will likely want kids someday. You can buy female ones too.
I really hope she is ok though. Unfortunately its just part of the sport. Be better/safer for her when she doesn't have to compete with boys at all. I didn't think it looked like (from that angle at least) that he was intentionally trying to hurt her. It was very quick after he transitioned from the triangle to armbar. Tough seeing your kid get hurt though. Feel your pain there bro.

To eliminate guard pulling, hid your stomach. She leads with her right leg so attach her right elbow to her knee. Keep it there like its glued until she's ready to swim for unders, shoot, or pull guard herself. Her left(back) hand can explore, test, and tie up all it wants. But keep the connection of the lead elbow and knee with head up and a straight spine. Then they can only but flop as opposed to full closed guard.

Her mistake was standing to tall and reaching with both hands, bringing the elbows high. This gives him guard.

Thank you bobby those were some great advice only someone of your calibur can give. These are the little details that I myself cannot teach her because I'm really nobody in this sport... I feel that if she can prevent them from pulling guard on her, she will have a greater chance against these boys. Preventing pulling guard and her pass are what we going to focus on the most. At least get those two aspects of her game to catch up with her guard game.
