Hey Bruce, I have to say, tbh for a while now I have been thinking if I was a parent of one of the various boys at Cora's academy I too wouldn't be too happy with you often posting footage of Cora smoking dudes. It would probably be a little disruptive. Little boys have big ego's in general. So do some parents haha. Also there are many academies that do not allow recording during teaching.
Tournament videos shouldn't be an issue though IMO.

Speaking as somebody that reps both 10th planet and checkmat, there is a fine balance. I realise that not everybody will be as lucky as I am and have complete harmony there, but it is achievable.

Sam: yes i can understand where you are coming from with this. I'm not close minded and have since taken all footage taken at the gym off line. Its not my intention to belittle any boys. When I post a video online, especially taken at the gym, its for learning purposes. I'm a nobody in this field and thus needed yall educated eyes. I post them in hope that yall would watch it and give advice as to what Cora is doing right and wrong and how things can be improved. That is a very unpleasant situation I'm sure. Respect the rules your instructor has and rep your academy clearly. Keep the 10th Planet patches smaller than your current school's patches. We wil always be here for you but if you wanna keep going to that school you are gonna have to play by their rules. I hope they don't make you stop posting Cora's tournament videos on this forum, that would suck. Btw the video on this thread doesn't work anymore, I didn't get a chance to see

It sounds like you are repping well. None of us are there and people are very complicated, but in the end it's your decision where she trains.

Its a Shame there is no 10p near you guys.

They would never do that. As long as she learns the techs she is being taught in class time, as soon as rolling starts at the end of class she can play whatever style she wants. People don't generally want to see money walking out the door. How dumb would it be to throw someone out of an academy for playing too much De la Riva or whatever?
Eddie is a huge name in jiu jitsu/martial arts. Very likely there is a little inferiority complex at play here too.
My advice, just keep doing what you do (obviously without the recording classes), just you and Cora stroke your coaches ego every now and then, let them know how important they are to y'all. When you say something positive about 10p do the same for them too.
Seems like they have been pretty reasonable so far with letting Cora rep both team names etc. She needs those training partners there though to maximise her potential. Also you might not be so lucky at another academy.

Sam: yes we really like it there and we are close to her blue belt coach. I know its probably the same thing or even worst at other gym. So staying put is our plan. Cora learn what she is being taught there as you can see from the video. Not all that she does is 10thplanet related. Its a combination of their work and mine. And as far as business goes, you are right on the money. And to benefit them even more, I am starting to get friends inquiring about what JJ is as they are watching Cora's video. I have friends that have kids and potentially can be part of the team also. I always talk highly of the school and help educate what JJ is and how it benefits Cora. Cora's friend at her school are also watching her videos and been inquiring about JJ. You see there are many benefit to having a student like her around. Their sales manager actually uses Cora as an example or sales pitch when giving tours to prospective students. It doesn't bother us any at all, we are willing to help the team as much as we can. If they want to use her face as a model for their kids program, then so be it. Same with 10thplanet, if Master Eddie want to use Cora as an example of how great this system is, we proudly will do our part to share this with anyone.

Kurzy: its all in our philosophy brother. My friends been telling me that I was doing great putting all of Cora's winning online until I put some when she get choked out...LOL They ask why I do that? Why I post the vid of her losing? I told them its because I'm being real. Alot of other parents only post videos of their kids victory. But we all know that in JJ, that is not the reality. The reality is that in this sport you will win some and lose some. If a kid has never lost before as in many kids on my FB list, then I say those kids never tested themselves enough. A kid should not be undefeated if they set out to test themselves everytime. Also I had to remind my friends that Cora only get beat by older boys who happen to be some of the best in the country. There's not shame in that.

So yesterday at the gym, one of the blue belt coach pulled my wife over and speak to her about what's going on. He said that someone at the affiliate gym complain about us recording his kid. For the Kids Pan Am, we were invited to that gym so the kids can get some sparring time in. Well I wasn't the only one that was recording the sparring that day. After some digging, we found out that the guy that complain was the dad of the 13 yr old boy that competed and beat Cora in a couple of the latest tournament...LOL I guess he doesn't want his stuff to be out there...LOL Little does he realize that his stuff will always be out there if he continue to compete against Cora because win or lose, I will post all of her matches up.

fyi, when we used to live in vegas, my son trained at a traditional bjj school.

he also trained at 10thplanet when visiting his grandparents in california once a month and a week or two in the summer.

it wasnt a problem until he started using 10thplanet techniques and the other students didnt know what he was doing to them.

then the instructor said we can not train at both schools, i explained that there is no 10th planet in vegas and that he only trains there when visiting his grandparents and he said he would cancel his contract right now, i said do it then and we never looked back.

also the instructor told all the kids they can not train with my son even out of class or they would have to leave as well.

its sounds like it is beginning to become a problem for you, if you dont want something like what happen to my son to happen to cora, then follow all their rules and keep a low profile.
