For example at 1.08+ in this video Cora has you mounted, whilst you lay there awkwardly pushing at 1 knee. People that train will be working hip escapes etc from there. In turn she would get chance to work her mount etc etc. YOU would know how to react properly, even when just being her grappling dummy for drills. You get the idea mate.

That is not to take anything away from you and what you have done Bruce, keeping her motivated, all of that, its fantastic. But I have said from day 1, as you know, I believe people that do not train jiu jitsu themselves do not have any place in teaching it. I feel like you will reach a limit of what she will learn from you because you can not truly understand it. What you are teaching feels like 'live'. It would be like learning to ride a bike via a 3rd party that has never ridden themselves. Hope that makes sense.

Cool wee video! I agree with Sam, You should get to the closest possible moon if you can.

Even with a shoulder injury you could go and just learn and drill technique, Anything that aggravates your shoulder you can try working on the opposite side then once you're done come home and roll with Cora. There's a huge difference in watching techniques and practicing them and trying techniques and trying to make them work against a live opponent.

What you have achieved with Cora so far is nothing short of incredible, be proud. The more you understand the techniques yourself then the better you'll be able to teach and coach Cora.

I love what you're doing though Bruce, keep up the good work!!!

With regard to all these videos, I think quality over quantity is important here. Some kind of layout too. For example say you made it an almost monthly series like MTS.

A 10-20 minute quality video blog update with decent varied content I think people would prefer to watch than 1 a week of lesser content. Build her up a good subscriber base on her youtube channel.

I like how it starts out with all smiles and laughs. 4 minutes into it you are holding on for dear life while getting smothered. It was one of those "Ruh-Roh Raggy!" moments. At least you fought back..but she almost took you out with that Carni

You would actually understand what you are teaching Cora too. You can teach Cora technique from youtube etc all day but 99% of the time they don't 'troubleshoot' in those videos, work the path beyond the end tech (stuffing the technique at certain points). Even body shapes etc can change the way someone might use a technique.
I once went to an MMA academy in the UK where the instructor was teaching jiujitsu/no-gi but yet had never rolled a day in his life. Lets just say in his instruction he was missing out small but super important nuances to the technique. If he had rolled before and regularly he would have known that.
i agree with this 100 percent if you want to teach cora and do the best by her you have to train as well its the best for both of you long term its a incredible bonding experience (i have 3 stepkids under 3 who love to play juijitsu the 2 year old mount arm bar is sick ) its the small things you miss watching videos after all are the game changers when you go live

now barncat has gone live in beaumont its only a hour away from houston i would make the trip for sure i travel a hour plus 4 days a week to train and my nearest moon is 3600kms away (shout out 10th planet melbs ) i make sure i go at least twice a year

and on the video front as much as i love watching the rg clinics cora puts on and i hear people talking about them (yes even in the 3rd most isolated city on earth google perth bruce )

less is more as sam said

much love to you bruce and cora much love

Plus Bruce brother, with the rate she is improving, and growing too, you don't want her to be able to kick your ass at 12-14 years old bro haha

Sam: she is already kicking my ass...LOL Today I taugh her the Meathook, we spent only 20 minutes drilling it and then we positional spar with the goal of her not letting me power through her and catching me with something. Of course this girl caught me in the damn triangle. Then at the gym, she use it during sparring and caught her partner with it. On the ride back home, she said "why didn't you teach me this before?? THis is some good stuff". LOL

haha well it is never too late mate. I have never met ANYBODY I didn't think could train BJJ. We have guys at my gym that are in their late 50's early 60's and have a whole bunch of health issues like arthritis etc. They love the gentle art. If ever they are in pain they just tap and reset to the knees or sitting start position.

I am thoroughly determined to convince you to get on the mats and start training yourself, even if only once or twice per week.
