i'd like to bitch about people slamming on the RG

So tonight I attended a BJJ seminar and the home instructor made a big point of having the seminar instructor mention that "rubber guard doesn't work", mostly so he could tell me in front of 30 or so people to prove it's not just him that thinks that. Then of course I mention that it's new and yet some have had success with it, when I named a few names they pretty much blew them off as did a few other black belts attending.

I just wanted to bitch about this here and say how much I want to see the system keep evolving so these fucks have to eat their words. I don't get why people are so fucking disrespectful and rude about it. Yes it's not the end all move but who said it was? It's just a tool and when it works why not use it. Why always the "rubber guard doesn't work, period" stance? Or am I just being stubborn because it seems to work for me at low levels and maybe these guys are partially right? Say it ain't so.

I'm very glad I have places to train around here but these gi only schools and their old ways piss me off sometimes. Sigh.

thanks guys. i know i'm preaching to the choir here but i had to get it out.

and before Einstein gets in here and says that's what i get for not training more when i was in LA with so much 10th Planet around... you are correct sir and this is what i get for being to lazy to drive all the way up to SF and see Denny here. i think i only like 10th P and SBGI, so far other gyms really disappoint me, none of them have an open mind.

Haters gonna hate. Even guys at the mendes gym are using it, and they're respected in that gym. Crazy thing is Eddie has some next next ish to stop the counters and keep mashing. Soon you'll see everyone using RG in the new Eddie path for sure.

also when they bash you can follow up by telling your idiot instructor that the rnc doesnt work and point out countless times it didnt. When he defends with his examples of how it does then do the same with rg..

just learnt it today at the melbourne seminar. i dont think haters are gunna be able to hate soon. that shits amazing. from what i hear rick, you had a lot to do with it so thanks to you aswell. comparing the new RG to the old is like comparing vitor belfort now to the vitor belfort from 2010.
