Why wouldn't he? He trains in the Gi. He competes in Gi tournaments as well. He was just at the Pan Ams recently, and I think another tournament before that.

He is an active competitor. Even in the Gi. He is a huge fan of Jiu Jitsu and worked hard consistently testing him himself outside the UFC. Don't care for his fighting style, but as a competitor he is a hard working bad ass. It's a great personal accomplishment for him.

im a bit confused. first off, congrats to beson for getting his black belt but why is it such a big thing that they had to make it a five minute video of people congratulating him? i guess its cos he is a ufc champion but it just seems over the top. i thought it was gunna be a video of him getting it. it just feels like he or i guess his coach was name dropping.

or was there some kind of hidden disability that he has that made getting his black belt so hard? does every black belt get lorenzo fertitta, shaq, jon jones, mike goldberg, some NFL guy, royce gracie etc sending them a congrats video?

Because getting a brazilian jiu jitsu black belt is still a major accomplishment. He just happens to be a very well liked human being.
