Setting up the Twister roll on shorter opponents

I'm 6'1 and when rolling with shorter guys anywhere from 5'6 and shorter, I find setting up the Twister roll (from Twister side control) difficult. Although I can hook their top leg with my bottom leg, the difficulty for me is cinching it up using my second leg and locking it down with both of my legs just before shoulder rolling.

An idea just came to me that I will try tonight but I thought I would run it by the forum first. Once I hook his top leg with my bottom leg, could I figure-4 my legs then go Fishnet > Shoulder Roll instead of "locking down" at his foot. With the short guys their foot is so close to my butt by the time I trap their top leg then locking in my other foot feels like a nasty battle.

Any and all tips and pointers are welcome

I'm only 5'10" but I can tell you how my tall guys get me lol. They've mastered hooking the leg to shoulder roll and catching the grapevine afterwards. It's a timing issue but they've gotten pretty good at doing it this way.

Sounds legit to me. Jeremy Fields just posted a video where he doesnt even grapevine before shoulder rolling. Nails it during the roll
