Well, the video of my match that my coach caught should be up soon. Until then, here's my breakdown of how it went for me.
I won my second match and ended up placing 3rd in my division, which felt pretty sweet since it was my first competition and I've only been practicing jiu jitsu for about 3 months. My opponents were pretty tough, but I finished my second opponent with an armbar from the triangle position. The guy just didn't wanna give the triangle to me, I'm sure he's prolly been put in it a time or two for sure, so I took his arm, and even then he didn't wanna tap to the point where i could feel his arm cracking and almost breaking loose completely, but he did eventually tap 1 minute 34 seconds into the match, and as you'll soon see in the vid I was pretty stoked about the win lol
I also had the chance to meet Cora Sek and her father Bruce! Great people for sure! It was def an honor to meet them and to watch Cora compete! Cora got kinda jipped out of her matches bc it seemed like nobody wanted to show up in her division to compete against her, but she did an amazing job regardless! On top of that, I had the chance to meet up with the 10th Planet Beaumont guys as well, which was awesome, can't wait to get the chance to go out there and check the place out! I can honestly say my experience at NAGA was def a memorable one for sure! The energy there was amazing! However, there were some things that I didn't like and just wasn't expecting.
First off, the place was tiny! For some reason, someone decided to host this year's NAGA event at a collage campus in the gym..which only had one set of bleachers, and was the size of a basketball court, there were just too many people crammed into that tiny place. Second, the whole event seemed so unorganized. Which, from what I hear, is unlike NAGA. Normally the event runs smooth, but this one didn't. My division ended up being over an hour behind schedule. Nonetheless, the whole thing was awesome and I can't explain how awesome it felt to bring home a medal from my first competition..a NAGA medal even lol! Keep an eye out for the video soon guys, unless you wanna look me up on facebook, i have the video on there for now.
