What qualities make a perfect student

I was wondering on what everyones opinion is on what makes a good student.

We all know that a bad student probably doesnt listen talks when they should drill and it can cause them to develop slower and the person who they are partnered with also suffers

What qualities allow you to develop fastest have the most productive class?

Is it the student who listens to everything you say or the one that looks things up in books and does some of there own research? Is it the one that learns fastest or that tries hardest?

I don't know that there is a "bad" student. There are some that are harder to teach than others. As martial arts teachers we are there to not just show some cool moves to our students, but to help them become better people over all. So if a student laughs and cuts up in class, there is clearly a respect issue. That can be fixed. Ego, respect, confidence. All of those can be fixed.

I actually find that the students that are the hardest to teach are the ones with weak wills. It can be very hard to teach someone to be stronger mentally.

So I guess a perfect student would start with many flaws and learn to better themselves and their technique quickly.

there was actually an instructor in my city telling his students they wont develop because they were not born fighters, where as I think that everyone can reach the same level given work. Some people may have more obstacles is all.

Just to clairify i dont mean bad student like I dont want you in my class

I mean your a bad student you have qualities that cause you to learn slower that need to be addressed

And good student like you have qualities that cause you to develop at warp speed and people should try and act more like how you act

I guess student is the wrong word to use.
