I know meg has already started preparing for this as well. Zach...as far as I know there are no kids divisions. Also there is no leg reaping...even in advanced. In fact id say take leg locks out of your game completely for this one an concentrate on passing an stalling. Thats the game thats played thereeven if its anti everything we do.
Nice and thanks ya I heard about the leg lock thing. We got a teenager that would love to compete at it. I guess we have to get our cards and get them signed.
If your not 18 you cannot even compete. Gab got silver as a 15 year old and then they changed the rule the following year and she hasn't been able to compete since. I believe there is a teen division but no one ever shows up for it. The leg lock thing is a big deal....id estimate at least 35-40 percent of the people competing last year were DQ'd simply because their foot was facing the wrong way on an ankle lock attempt (or often just went over the hip in transition to another position)....they never even attempted a heal hook (thats how strict they are with that rule.) You can only compete at your belt level too (no going up a belt etc.). Zach you will destroy the blue belt div. but train ALOT of cardio. Last year there were upwards of 40 people in each div. for blue belt. One division had 62 guys...insane.
Also...im not sure you guys need cards? We didnt have one when gab did it and meg didn't have one last year (maybe they changed the rule?) We simply just needed for a black belt to officially register himself as a black belt from our school and we used his name during registration to identify our team. No cards or anything like that...did have to show ID though (drivers license etc) which was kinda crazy. Also you don't weigh in till you step on the mat. No night before etc.
Also if you don't make weight, you're automatically disqualified without a refund so don't try to cut a ton for it. Weigh ins happen before your division so you'd rather be strong for it than dehydrated.
