NABJJF Cups not permitted

Hey guys. I'm registered for the New Jersey NABJJF tourney and I was going over the rule book and it says cups are not permitted. Have any of you guys done an NABJJF tourney before? Is this correct? Only done NAGA and Grappler's Quest. I am not a fan of rolling without protection. Been there, done that, melted lots of ice all over the couch. Emailed them too. Just thought maybe you fellas might have some insight.

i agree that cups shouldn't be allowed. I hate rolling with people with hard cups. My coach says your balls are always there you might as well develop a style that protects them since they are only in jeopardy in a few situations.

Hate rolling with guys that wear em. A few guys in class do and it really sucks if they skydive or go for an arm bar. They can be used as a weapon, even on accident.

I only wear a cup when rocking vale tudo shorts/leggings. Don't want to embarrass myself...

Wow, man. I had no idea that cups were so frowned upon. You learn something new every day. I have taken some serious shots to the cash and prizes but I can see how it could be dangerous to your opponent or aid in a submission, but the boys. My sweet boys.. I guess I'll be rolling cupless for next few weeks to prep.
