i'd rather see No gi world champs and mma champs then a gi world champ, it is possible though, because ryan fortin is on his way to dual blackbelts under eddie no gi, and cobrinha in the gi.

Now I am not saying I am a world champ lol. Far from it actually. I just began my journey through the 10th planet system. But I do train mostly gi over here at belchers. One of the guys who I train with outside of belchers keeps telling me to play a no gi game in the gi. Clinches instead of grips. I am a HUGE fan of the 10th planet style. I also train at 10th planet gulf shores and that's where I get my 10th planet influence injected into my play style. Seein some of the faces of the people I roll who are traditional when I get them in the lock down is priceless. Let alone when I go to mission control from time to time. I am with Kevin on this one, I'd really love to see someone in the gi just destroy using the 10th planet system.

I just got done training in the gi. I dont use the handles so I'm basically training no gi in the gi. It's been working really well for me because I can hang with the brown belts. I still get tapped but Im using the basic concepts of dominating the inside space and staying very active off my back constantly feeding butterfly hooks in.

I'm sorry but this sounds like that girlfriend that try's to change her boyfriend into what she likes. Stop worrying about the magical pajamas. 10th Planet is a NO-GI system period. If guys want to put on the pajamas that fine. But realize what Eddie Bravo's system is all about.

When I was just a white belt like 6 years ago I was a huge Eddie fan. Bought jiu jitsu unleashed and his bio DVD and dropped in his classes at the bomb squad so I've been doing his half guard in gi for a long time. I just never put in the work on the rubber guard. Love getting that sweep going on top a choking people out. But if I was to play full guard rubber guard is great in the gi too. With the lapel grips it's easier to break posture to get to shitty mission control and then go and work some magic. I'll play it with white belts from time to time but with my old bad knees just can't put in the work to get good yet. I rock the hell out of the Apollo sweep and hit that track stance for head and arm. My whole game right now is get top post ion and get head and arm or north/ south choke and if I can't pass their half I go for darce city. I do this in the gi or out!

Look jack not everyone is looking to go into MMA but love competing so if you are afraid of color chokes and don't want to compete in both brackets that's cool. I got third at NAGA US OPEN in nogi and had a blast am I supposed to not compete in nogi cause I train in gi as well? I love jiu jitsu all of it. I have been doing 10th Planet techniques for 6 years at my Gracie Barra school and defending and praising the system. We don't have a moon or a hot box or I would have been 10th4life all this time. My point is don't exclude the gi it can be fun and beneficial if all you want to do is enjoy jiu jitsu!

Why do you think guys like Ryan and Sean are training in the gi? It has it's moments. Your awareness and defense becomes stronger due to added options. I agree for MMA and self-defense GI can hurt you but since I just love the sport I see no conflict. Plus I'm easy going and want everyone to like me lol
