Between May 25th, 2008 and February 9th, 2013 will easily go down as the toughest and most depressing time of my life. From 3 reconstructive surgeries, leaving home, dealing with the loss of my mother, dropping out of high school, excessive substance abuse, gaining 30 lbs, a competitive 129 lbs to a fat 160 lbs, developing sleep apne, admitting myself to the psych ward, being jumped by undercover cops who were working underage drinking detail, court battles, spending nearly a year in jail, 3 months in solitary confinement. This was my life from the age of 18 to 22. I'll be 23 years old on September 7, 2013.
After being released from incarceration on November 14, 2012 I was 145 lbs. 15 lbs less than when I arrived. So. My comeback wasn't finished yet. I was still occasionally using marijuana, shout out to my brothers who still do. Though I continued my comeback losing 5 more lbs from Nov 14th, 2012 until February 2013.
At about 140 lbs I decided I would enter a tournament where my training partner had a super fight. The night before the match I had smoked. Got a gnarly case of the munchies. And just my luck. My training partners wife had baked a ton of chocolate chip cookies. I literally gained 6 lbs that night. (This would be the last time I had smoked)
I woke up the next day. Feeling horrible. I decided not to compete. I was simply going to attend my training partner's super fight. After the 3 hour drive and walking in the door. My body took over and paid my entrance fee. I went on to weigh in at 146 lbs. I had a long grueling day. But I learned a lot. After such a long introduction here is the match that allowed me to take 3rd in the 170 lb and under NoGi Men's Advanced Division.
Since this match I have competed in 4 tournaments and 1 superfight.
