For those who don't know about bolstering - this is what you need to do to fix an ear that really needs fixing. As others have said - you can drain an ear over and over, but there isn't anything stopping it from filling back up when you're sleeping or something like that. I can tell you this does work amazingly - I got hit hard in the side of the head and my ear basically inflated to fill my whole 'ear-bud' area - completely closing off my entire inner ear. I really did not want that - so I had it bolstered - and it's good as new.
Granted this is an upper ear example - I had the same thing done on the inside of my ear. They punch stitches through and tie them so that there is constant pressure holding your ear from both sides.
You will need to go to a doctor - but it's really not a large price when weighed against future surgery or obstructed hearing.
