How did the Mechanic get its name?

Most moves have a story attached to them. Where did the Mechanic get its name? Anybody know? Just curious.

Alternatively, what are your favorite 10th Planet move names? Not necessarily favorite to DO but favorite name for whatever reason (DPO and the Suzuki are two favorites of mine because of how they got their names).

The Mechanic, I think, was named by Brent Littell, because your hand is like a crescent wrench when it latches onto your opponent's underhook. [Note: this could be a false etymology but that's the way I remember it.]

The Ham Sandwich was originally an anti-Conor Heun move because he was good at passing with one knee down, one knee up, which was giving his opponent the ham sandwich. Conor quickly became the best at the move though. The name is an obvious nod toward the hamstrings.

The Drowning Wizard (my favorite technique name too) name derives from the whizzer (wizard) and the swim move. During my nearly nine-year tenure at HQ, I think I've seen that move taught once, a two-week cycle back at the Bomb Squad.
