Do you have lotus flexibility? Jail break really opens things up. Jailbreak should set up the Ghost for you as the guy defends the butterfly hook. This may be more long term if you don't have the flexibility. What is Brett telling you. Listen to him, that will be your fastest gains. Also, when you had lockdown, I did not see you whip that around at all to off base that guy. You should be able to whip those "little" guys around just by whipping and rolling your weight from hip to hip. My guess is you can Evil rainbow your legs and damm near get a sweep. Finally, start every single roll for the next three months from bottom side.. Thanks for posting your matches!! Glad to see you competing.

My criticism (which we've talked about) - Stop waiting so long to attack. More reps=easier recognition of opportunity.

the way he was posturing i could not get underhooks and he was driving his hips back real low i tried for old school he posted when i went for electric chair I just couldnt move him i have had a long term problem with whip up with heavier guys on smaller guys yep no problem dont know if its just a lack of physical strength in my core or bad technique either way my lock down has always been my strongest thing and path. Time to go back to drawing board review early dvds and other stuff and rep it out

I know most those guys i feel like i have to wait til there tired cause i just dont feel physically strong enough to attack while they are fresh also.

Not even talking about whip up/down, getting double unders, etc Just whip him around a bit. You have so much control with lockdown, your two legs should be able to move his one leg around! I'm a weak 155 lbs, I whip around 200+ pound guys all the time. Just enough to keep them moving, and thinking about base. Drive your knees into his ass, straighten the lockdown to the sky, whip it left, whip it right. Get things moving around first, then listen to Brett and recognise the momentum shifts and seize the oppourtunity to do all the cool things lockdown has to offer. Put Brett in your lockdown, put your hands to your side (don't use them) and tell him to pass, and just start whipping him all around. Don't stop moving your lockdown until you sweep him with just your legs or he passes. Learn the Evil rainbow! Listen to Brett!

Most of the guys are gonna push and attack you till you are tired. It is in your best interest to use to your size and learn to distribute weight so anything they do to you will get stuffed and wear them out. You got the lock down but you didn't establish your double unders and look for a sweep. I don't know if you start mentally breaking when you hit your back but if you are look to become a top game player you should be doing hundred of Old School reps and practice getting on side and gradually to your knees to Dog Fight. If you start pushing back and using your tools, you will find openings. I would focus on sweeps, arm triangles and try getting to the North South position. I feel those would be strong positions for you. Don't get discouraged, my coach once told once your on the mat, their is no running so don't start running away and looking for ways out before you even try. I feel their is a physical element there but mentally you just need to unleash the beast and attack! Good luck with training man I have a feeling it will get better.

You look just like me a couple short years ago. Big guy jiu jitsu is just different plain and simple. I rarely give advice because I'm still learning the system myself, but I think I could help you a little. Guys like us are extremely comfortable with 10th Planet due to the numerous paths off the back. This however also makes us somewhat lazy. We see the smaller guys working beautifully from there and we assume we can do the same. Eventually we will brotha! Right now though, my best advice is simply...Move! Try rolling without subs, just posish. Control from everywhere you end up. Above all, just move. I don't know if this will help but it's how I overcame the big guy traps. Move, move, move :-)

You Evil Raibow with your legs, you can do it with no arms, it is all about the leg motion. Don't start with HW, learn to move around a 180 pounder first.
