My pic the lettering is a distressed lettering so its supposed to look like that i have washed normally and dried on normal heat in dryer with rest of laundry prolly a 100 or more times yes lil cracks will form over time but I do everything from football jerseys to mma shorts and never have had a problem with washing. hurting the press. Now if it was a glitter or metallic material then yes flip inside out but even still can dry normally and wash normal.

Like you said John getting done properly is key even many screen shops dont properly heat press stuff I fix alot of other peoples mistakes lucky thing is vinyl is pretty forgiving in that nature.

I just use a light colored rashguard and get it sublimated. They cant sublimate on dark colors or black because there is no such thing as white sub-ink. Sublimation is quick, cheap, photorealistic, and Never washes out as the ink becomes part of the fabric itself. I have successfully sublimated a basic blue starter rashy and it looked amazing but I wouldn't try anything darker.
