got my first baratoplata in live rolls today. feeling stoked.

since ive been off, i havnt actually been able to practice one before, ive jsut watched all the videos and had it in my head to learn so. then today my training partner jsut fell into it. i admit the setup was atrocious and i couldnt have controlled it better but i got it and it felt so tight.

such a great submission to learn.

people don't expect it at all
when you're setting it up from guard and you do the reverse kimura grip setup, they just look at you like, "wtf are you doing, man" hahaha

this was such a random move. he made some room while in my guard by moving to one side and had his arm on teh ground so i went for a cheeky omaplata and he moved his hand onto my chest but not before i got a deep hook in it and triangled my leg and squeezed. i mean i dont think he could hav gotten out but it felt sloppy, but it just worked. i love my omaplatas but this seems to be the next step in making them more dangerous.

Some might think that the baratoplata is a gimmick techniques, but the more we drill it from all positions, its becoming a legit move. I think cora even has a higher percentage of getting this move from her guard than her armbar. I believe that given enough time she will make the baratoplata just as deadly as her triangle. And you are right, no one expect it because none really know what it is right now. The only reason why we haven't drill that much of it is because its such a devastating shoulder lock that my shoulder become so sore after every drill.
