Then on the one person smaller than me in the gym, I can try new techniques. Make sure you let everyone at the gym know of your goals, whatever they may be. Since I did that, I've been getting better and harder rolls which is the best thing you can do to improve your jiu jitsu.
Amber, I've been rolling with all of the guys since March this year. I roll with 200+ MMA fighters, even have a few guys that are 300 and something. I don't mind being out muscled, I can't get stronger than them and I'm certainly not going to try to. Lol. We do 5 minute rounds with I think a 15 second break to switch. I always get at least 6 matches. I agree with your suggestion 100% though, bc I've had to do the same thing to get better as well!

Bas Ruttens big book of combat audio tapes will also kick your ass with no risk of injury.

Also, if you dont lift now.. dont start at the beginning of your training for a tourney. Start tomorrow and then you can make it more cardio based/circuit oriented in the weeks before.
I'm not sure if you've seen a picture of me but I'm a size 1 and 118 pounds. I don't care what I weigh, just want to be in top shape! The first tournament, big tournament, of the year is in Feb. I'm mainly trying to stick to body weight exercises to be honest. I had no idea so many people on the forum lifted.

I managed to pull both Achilles tendons last friday skipping rope and doing explosive HIIT jumping and step-up conditioning and shit like that, without going for a warmup job first. Stupid. I have had ice packs on both heels for 3 days now and taking Advil.
Add to that, I took a pretty painful injury to my knee about 3 or 4 days before that, and I am a limping train wreck.
But yeah, things are healing up and I will be back on track shortly and try to make a priority to film this routine.
Kettlebell routines: Talk to Stewart Landry.
Yea that would be awesome! That sucks. Hope you feel better soon.
Our whole (serious competitors..) competition team started cardio this week. We're doing it mon, wed, and fri. I can't go at 4 when everyone else does bc I have to work, but I'm doing the same thing they are so far on my own time.
That's 1 min suicides, 1 min vertical jumps, 1 min of push ups as hard and fast as you can. That's one round. I managed to do 2 rounds Monday. I'd like to get up to somewhere between 5 & 10 next spring. It sounds simple, but it's not easy that's for sure, ESP if you do it after Jiu Jitsu. Oh, and you're also supposed to do sprints afterwards.
