I could totally make a video of this. I am just letting a couple injuries heal up this week, but after I am back to 100% I will see if I can do that for you.
I managed to pull both Achilles tendons last friday skipping rope and doing explosive HIIT jumping and step-up conditioning and shit like that, without going for a warmup job first. Stupid. I have had ice packs on both heels for 3 days now and taking Advil.
Add to that, I took a pretty painful injury to my knee about 3 or 4 days before that, and I am a limping train wreck.

But yeah, things are healing up and I will be back on track shortly and try to make a priority to film this routine.

I told the boys to call me out to roll and to push me harder. Most can out muscle me but fighting that is great for my endurance. Then on the one person smaller than me in the gym, I can try new techniques. Make sure you let everyone at the gym know of your goals, whatever they may be. Since I did that, I've been getting better and harder rolls which is the best thing you can do to improve your jiu jitsu.
Amber, I've been rolling with all of the guys since March this year. I roll with 200+ MMA fighters, even have a few guys that are 300 and something. I don't mind being out muscled, I can't get stronger than them and I'm certainly not going to try to. Lol. We do 5 minute rounds with I think a 15 second break to switch. I always get at least 6 matches. I agree with your suggestion 100% though, bc I've had to do the same thing to get better as well!

Also, if you dont lift now.. dont start at the beginning of your training for a tourney. Start tomorrow and then you can make it more cardio based/circuit oriented in the weeks before.
I'm not sure if you've seen a picture of me but I'm a size 1 and 118 pounds. I don't care what I weigh, just want to be in top shape! The first tournament, big tournament, of the year is in Feb. I'm mainly trying to stick to body weight exercises to be honest. I had no idea so many people on the forum lifted.

Yea that would be awesome! That sucks. Hope you feel better soon.

Our whole (serious competitors..) competition team started cardio this week. We're doing it mon, wed, and fri. I can't go at 4 when everyone else does bc I have to work, but I'm doing the same thing they are so far on my own time.

That's 1 min suicides, 1 min vertical jumps, 1 min of push ups as hard and fast as you can. That's one round. I managed to do 2 rounds Monday. I'd like to get up to somewhere between 5 & 10 next spring. It sounds simple, but it's not easy that's for sure, ESP if you do it after Jiu Jitsu. Oh, and you're also supposed to do sprints afterwards.

That's awesome that the guys have no problem rolling with you. Not many would with me until I started to call them out. Now, Some of the bigger but more experienced guys like to use me to try new moves on but the white belts just don't want to get tapped even if it means sitting on me and holding my wrists down the entire time.

At my old gym, the instructor told us to run at least 30 minutes a day to improve our endurance. We rarely rolled there. I thought I was in great shape when I switched to 10P Chicago but I was so wrong. Nothing can get you better endurance for rolling than more rolling. I used to use the rowing machine for cardio and really liked it since you can engage more upper body muscles during the workout. As a female, that is where I am the weakest. I was a gymnast for 10 years so leg strength is not a problem. If you have access to a rower, I suggest that for extra cardio (I need to take my own suggestion too since I haven't done it in a while with school, work and training filling my day!)

Yea, it was weird at first bc I'm the instructors wife. But now it's different. We all call each other out, I don't let the guys boot me out. I'm an equal, I'm just the smallest. I used to deal with that sort of thing too. Sometimes the bigger Mma fighters will still get a wrist, but they can have it lol. It's a distraction for them.

Yea, my upper body isn't too great..not terrible though, but I really need to develop my legs and core too. I'm working on building a work out for my game..arm bars. I'll have to start doing that on top of cardio and jitz class/rolling. I'm so excited though. :-) Starting back on a cleaner diet as well!
