Honestly this Lloyd Irvin fiasco is a huge part of what just completely killed my passion for jiu jitsu. I could never understand why our community would STILL continue to let such a bad person prosper. They jumped all over the scumbag Hermes Franca for similar stuff, however Hermes wasn't lining their pockets. Just went to show me that money basically brought Lloyd out of trouble with the jiu jitsu community. Is that what we are like?
I mean its a VERY political community anyway, always shit going on in some camp or other, but this is a whole new level of scumbaggery we should have jumped all over. The fact TLI continues, and continues to run kids programs is sickening and quite frankly embarrassing.
We take our cues from our instructors/black belts etc, but they all said nothing (apart from Ryan Hall and a couple of others). I can 100% see why Ryan left jiu jitsu. What kind of example does that set?
So many think they are going to be rich jiu jitsu instructors, when in truth their are very few Eddie Bravo's, if any, other than ours. Guys that are really doing well for themselves with jiu jitsu. 98% of your average non multiple world champion jj instructors are living on the breadline. Struggling to make ends meat, make the rent each month etc. Trying to sell t-shirts and stuff constantly just to keep on top of things. So paying Lloyd $5000+ per year for his much hated cheap and nasty marketing techniques will not change that. In fact it will likely hurt it. That 5Gs is a huge chunk out of your rent etc.
In the future (next 10 years or so) unless you are a multiple time world or at least national champion black belt teaching your academy, it likely simply won't survive/do more than break even. So last thing guys need is to be misled into forking out a bunch of coin to Lloyd and his merry sheep for info you can find for free anywhere online, if you can be bothered to look for a second.
