No shame at all on OCS brotha! As a matter of fact, I'll tell you the secret to being the best damned Lt. the Army's ever witnessed. First, do what you're told. Second, learn and do everything the Army way. That'll get you through OCS. Now for the hard part. Find the grunts, shut your cock holster, and listen to everything they say. Volunteer for field problems learn from each and every vet in the field. In common sense, even the pfc will outrank you. These are the men who will teach and mold you. Eventually leading from the front will gain their respect. It won't be long before your nco's are saying that Rivello's a damned good Lt.

My first RSP drill, one of the NCO's went on a rant about most of these guys who come out of ROTC barely know shit, I do not want to be that guy hes talking about. Next drill is combatives, should be fun

Then dont be that guy. That is the only decision you have to make!! Ive witnessed shit bags being commissioned as 2Lts and ive also seen dude and females that are squared away. 3 out of about 8 guys who commissioned in 2011 have already earned their ranger tabs. Not saying you have to have a ranger tab to be a squared away officer but what I am saying is if you take your job/training seriously you dont have to be the stereotypical LT that your NCOs are talking about. Just my opinion though!

Understand Jon that in all military branches there must be "the one." Try everything in your power not to become this individual no one wants to be "the one." That shit will follow you everywhere you go in the military, from here to Afghanistan. Those guys end up having long hard careers. Square your ass away and you should be solid and choke out some hooah's for me at combatives, make sure you shout SEMPER FIDELIS after every submission.
