His story is ridiculous. Even his former coach confirmed that he has a habit of injuring people. No way to prove him wrong, but plenty of evidence to suggest Palhares is full of BS.
He was cut because he was a liability. Any fans of GSP are fans because of his martial arts spirit. If he started pulling Palhares antics, he'd lose fans, get fined and suspended. That's cuz he's champ. If a non champ, say Wand, started doing it, no doubt he'd get cut too. Liabilities are bad for the sport and bad for business.
As for the armbar heel hook argument, it's more than speculation. Knee injuries are worse and require more rehab. Miesha Tate got her whole elbow dislocated and didn't even need a cast. Meanwhile Dominic Cruz blows his knee and is out for two years. This would lead to a logical conclusion that heel hooks are more dangerous than armbars.
It's waaaay more than opinion and speculation when facts and evidence are present.
i agree with you dude i jsut want to point out that dominic also ahd a failed surgery and thts why he has been out for so long. cat zingano or gsp himself might be better examples.
to ryan its the fact that there arnt any pain receptors (or at msot only a few) that makes it so dangerous, because you dont feel it in the knee first but thats what goes first and why it gets damged more. i know youre probably aware of that but no one seems to have brought it up.
i myself have been out for almost three months because my knee was on the way to being torn (so loose, it wouldve torn if i wasnt careful)
and i dont think wanderlei would e cut right away. thing is in this case that palhares is a repeat offender, added into intent and its the fact that he cranked after the ref stopped it. 2 times in the ufc and once in adcc.
and as far as teh he thought pierce was punchign him not tapping. i also heard him give his side fo story but he said that the ref was stopping pierce from holding the fence when he put the submission on and because pierce ahd jsut gotten out of the sub before that he knew he had to hold it tight and then he said that pierce tapped the ref and not palhares but by then pierce ahd tapped palhares more than 3 times on his leg and the ref had gone from one side of the cage (stopping pierce from holding the cage to palhares' other side and fallen on palhares and grabbed his arms to stop the sub. swiss cheese has less holes in it thatn that story.
and with ronda i think its more the fact that once she gets the armbar, youre probly not gunna get out of it, shes shown that shes got control, she cranks it hard but stops when shes meant to, thats skill not being a roided up idiot.
