The Dojo Storm!

So, I know it happens at every gym. But lately we have had a TON of visitors/challengers from local jiujitsu and mma gyms. I credit it to Barncat tearing up the comp scene and the future opening gym. Some of these guys are nice, good people just seeing what all the hype is about. Some of these guys come in, disrespect, flaunt their credentials ("I'm a rainbow belt under Richard Simmons") or whatever fruity gym they are from and expect to crush us.

This is just one story: so one guy was an instructor at a local bjj/mma gym. Came in saying he's done bjj for 9 years and wrestled for 3 years in school (probably true). The ostentatious douchebaggery radiated like a douche-aura around this guy. So Barncat is showing a move (prison guard), when he disrespects yet again and blurts something I can barely make out, but it was "blah blah blah rubberguard bullshit". Barncat handles this so professionally, and decides technique practice is over an the rolling part of class is starting early. Barncat get him first and mops the floor with his face... I've never seen someone get crushed so bad.. Fun thing was, I got him next! Yah!!

So, anyone got this level of dojo storms happening at their gym?? Other Instructors coming in to crush us, then leaving with their tails between their legs.. It was pretty epic.

We have been dealing with that except everyone has been real respectful and wanting to learn and chill. Me and Jon were just saying how cool it is to defend the honor of the school on a daily basis and roll with all the visitors.

Most are very cool. But theres been a couple, this guy especially, that are not so cool.

I keep a couple guys on hand to settle them down. We just had a Gracie humatia brown belt roll through. He had a pretty rough attitude. As soon as rolling started, before I even got the timer going, one of my blue belts was all over this guy. These people tend to quieten down after a blue belt or white belt runs through them.

Its always the same lame excuses as well. "Oh, its so much different without the GI" or "my cardio is not good right now". There are a few more but everybody in the room knows.

I train at a Catch Wrestling gym, so yeah you could say we get challenged a lot.
