Sounds like two problems. Hes too full of misplaced energy/aggression, and he doesn't know his place. If your gonna keep him you need to check his ass and let him know who the alpha is and to respect you when you say to do things like cut his stupid shit out. Apparently he doesnt comprehend you could kill him with your bare hands if you wanted to and there'd be nothing he could do to stop it, you need make him realize that before hes gonna start listening. Start making his workouts brutal to the point he quits or changes his attitude, that way if he leaves its on his own terms and not being tossed out on his ass in again. Plus itll probably keep him from just going to another gym. If you want, be honest and tell him he's halfway out the door for the reasons you told us and your gonna push him and he needs to perform to prove himself to you or else he is out. Id recommend large doses of squats, burpees, and his ass constantly in the middle of a shark tank with no one going light. Make his ass too worn out to want to be a dickhead. Good luck either way.

This right here is your answer. Good luck and maybe get a no trespass put on him, seems like the kinda fucktard that would try to do some kinda dumb shit.

Herzog obviously nailed it, but if you absolutely want to give him every opportunity to change you could put him with your school's smasher for every class and every roll until he either gets the idea or quits.

Jiu Jitsu is not for everyone. It's defo not for douchebags.

The day we tolerate this kind of behaviour is the day we deserve all the trouble we get.

    Squash it fast.

All the advice by the instructors and school owners is legit. He's gotta go. He's already created a poor atmosphere and keeping him there in any attempt to rehab is going to cause ill will with your good people and I guarantee prove futile anyway. I'm all about trying to make an impact in people's lives but there are situations where business has to supersede causes and this sounds like a prime example. I've made the opposite choice before in my school and it never turns out positively for everyone. And the suggestion of making it a business case for the school owner is one of the best things in this thread. Do that ASAP. If he still is hesitant then make him deal with the guy directly every time there is an issue. He'll be apologizing to YOU in short order after a few times of dealing with this guy.

I have a soft spot for troubled kids. I would show him your list of offenses, explain that you would have taken more serious action earlier if not for the gym owners interference and give him the 30-90 day ban. I would give him one more chance after the ban ended. I would also explain to the rest of the students very honestly why I made the decision.

Aside from all the business aspect. Equipping a guy like that with Jiu Jitsu is like handling a gangster with a gun. Get rid of him and focus on the people that actually want your help. We had a 12 yr old boy that would do something similar to that. He would bicep crush, wrist lock, and straight up bully the younger kids. At first we (all the parents) thought he was a very strong and tough 10 yr old as he was the same size as Cora. But later we notice his aggressiveness was unusual for a 10 yr old, so we ask around and found he was 12. We told the coaches what he was doing to the other kids. The coaches spend so much time with him during class trying to discipline him that it took away his time with the other student. So finally enough was enough when a few parents witness him trying to yank one of the kid's head. We all screamed at him to stop. That was the last day we saw him.

I have a soft spot as well. I was a troubled kid. But not every coach knows how to deal with that and it's not their responsibility at all. The owner seems to have a soft spot as well. If he feels like he can do something, he should. Otherwise the instructor has no obligation to be this guy's father figure/big brother.

I understand wanting to help. But not everyone that NEEDS help wants help. Trust me man. I've had to cut out very toxic people out of my life who I've tried to help. I'm talking blood relatives, not just friends. You know the saying, teach a man to fish.....? Well, some people just want free fish. They don't want to be taught how to fish. So yeah man, the coach has no obligation to take this kid under his wing. All he's gotta do is offer to teach the kid how to "fish." If the kid isn't willing to learn per the lesson plan, then he doesn't belong.

yep, if you don't want to rock the boat with the gym owner and the kid is still not changing his ways, make him learn respect the hard way LOL. Always match him up against the best guys, big guys too, never let him roll with really light guys or girls, and if there aren't any guys there then smash him yourself every roll until he learns. Tough love kinda thing.

Second for the Shark tank, make him quit or develop a new found appreciation for breathing
