The divisions were stacked this weekend, some had 30 to 40 competitors, it was insane. Although we didn't take a giant team like in 2011, we had a nice little group of 10p heads ready for battle. Some of our soldiers did very well, Doug Miller (Hq) won 2 matches, Nathan Ng (Sf) won 4 matches & took Bronze, Jesse Veltri (Ronin/in process of hotbox) won 1 & took Silver, Denny lost the point game but had his opponent in a straight ankle lock when time ran out and Victor Davila was in a tight match, had a full blown electric chair but got Dq'd for reaping. The star of the day was Kyra Batara (West LA/HQ), she mauled 4 opponents, with 3 subs to get the gold medal, I also gave her a purple belt, she is a monster. Friday night we only worked the arm triangle from the mount and mount to spider web to the new version of the paulo filho and BAM in her first match against the #1 ranked IBJJF blue belt, Kyra did what we worked on note for note, it was awesome to see her execute to the T what we worked on the night before, she is a machine. Now it's time to focus on Gracie Nationals, let's swarm it!!
