    Wrist Injuries

Has anybody else dealt with multiple wrist injuries? Back in August I had a ligament pop in my wrist while holding a d'arce and I ended up taking 6 weeks off with no activity and wearing a brace. Everything was good after that for a few weeks and then it happened again. Same position, more painful this time.

I saw a hand specialist who recommended a cortisone injection and rest with a new brace for 4 weeks then followup. MRI did not show any complete tears or significant soft tissue damage, so he suspects it is a partial tear in the UCL which commonly does not show up on MRI's (He cited around 50% of the time).

The next step after the 4 weeks if everything is not going toward 100% is to do an arthroscopy to look inside and repair anything that needs it while in there. I was also told that the arthroscopy might be necessary even if the pain does subside over the 4 weeks because the joint will be more lax and vulnerable to re-injury given the nature of our activity.

Anybody else been through a wrist arthroscopy or any of these issues? I know the procedure will put me out for a few months, but I would like to make sure I am going to be 100% again and not having re-injuries keep popping up.

My left wrist has been jacked for about 8 months. I don't stop training so I'm constantly re-injuring it. I tweak it bad about 5 times a class. I'm an idiot but I just keep training

My right wrist has been messed up for years. It currently feels better than ever because I've been using hand wraps and MMA gloves during every rolling session for the last 2 months. I don't get it tweaked and put in those same awkward positions every match and I think it is finally starting to heal. Give it a try, fellas.

I've pushed through in the past, but now it's at the point of impacting my job and being able to do things with my son. I will definitely give the hand wraps a shot though once I get back in. I have used tape in the past, but hand wraps will be a lot quicker and easier to put on all the time.

I've had issues with my right wrist since 1993 when a jackass japanese Jujitsu instructor decided we wanted to use me for a wrist lock demo and jacked it up. It hasn't been right ever since. I have to tape both my wrists anytime I roll or do strength and conditioning. Its one of the many things my chiro works on for me.

I got back to some light action last night and tried the hand wrap. I really liked it as it provided enough support to prevent tweaking it but also allowed enough mobility. Thanks again for the tip!

Wrists are the worst in that it feels like you can train cus it only your wrist, but really you need to rest it like any other body part.
I do a lot of stability ball stuff and love active posting so my wrists are strong and flexible but last week the little pains became a big pain, even though the rest of my body was fine I forced myself off the mat after I could no longer straight arm without shooting pains. 3-4 days rest and it was good enough to train and now it's fine for my comp on Sunday so it really is a case of giving it some rest sooner than you would ideally like to.

If ur wrists totally fucked it's probably too late so you may as well keep going. A close friend of mine who owns another gym has been strapping his wrist 4 yrs now. After that long you gotta wonder whether that will ever repair.

I have not heard of or tried Cissus, but I'll check it out. I have just taken Glucosamine Chondroitin for a while now.
