The Japanese Neck Tie

What is everyone's take on this submission?

I've had a lot of fun finding new set ups to the Japanese Neck Tie and paths from the Japanese Neck Tie to other game ending submissions.

From time to time I am asked: "Is this a neck crank or a choke?"

When I believe the question they truly want answered is: "Is this a legal submission?"

I typically tell the students, "The Japanese Neck Tie is a Neck Crank with a Choke and it is Legal to use in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments."

My favorite set up is from the dismount xD

I use it a fair amount. It's great! If I have time on the clock I'll go for a darce but if I need to hit it quick I'm diving for the JNT all day

If a ref is looking even a lil confused, I just call it an arm in guillotine then its all good. I love the jnt. If I'm on top and lock the vice I'm going for it 100%. The only time I transition to the bicep, is on the marce. Which I also love. Yeah, I catch it from dismount, half and turtle most.

The Japanese Neck Tie is definitely a great place to hold and transition to the D'Arce!

An Arm in Guillotine, that's a great call!

Typically the rules I compete in state: No Neck Cranks without a Choke

I give up such a length disadvantage that I typically can only lock up an S-Grip.
But that's okay! You can surly still finish with just an S-Grip.
I've come to the point where I actually prefer the S-Grip. . . Almost.
After finishing so much with the S-Grip, I was able to go full Vice Grip once,
and I felt like I could take the guys head off if needed.

Taking the JNT for what it truly is and not calling it a Arm-in-Guillotine, is it a legal submission under the guidelines?:

No Neck Cranks without a Choke

It's a legit choke. We've had a guy put a kid to sleep in a tournament with one.

I really like it, but lately when I hit it people are saying it is a neck crank. I think it is a matter of an inch or so between pure neck crank and a choke. I am now focusing on getting those arteries cut off. It has really become a solid part of my game, but I don't really want it to be a neck crank, I hate neck cranks.

Why do u hate neck cranks?
