I didn't think his outburst was that bad to begin with. I don't think Matt is getting into these comps to win a rack of medals. I really think he's looking for experience. So I can imagine he felt like he just wasted a ton of time he could've spent training and actually rolling vs competing against a guy who was looking to squeak out a couple points.

I'm sure singlet dude is a nice guy, but I can't blame Matt for his reaction.

I have no idea who told their mother to record that match while her daughter was waiting to go on the next mat over :-)

I dont blame him. That guy had no intention of taking any risk or trying to win. It was frustrating to watch. HOWEVER, Matt could have taken a shot or two.

Singlet did nothing wrong. Matt didn't engage him. He was down on points and wanted the guy to engage him. Oh well. Singlet didn't take a risk? Neither did Matt. If I'm down on points you're fixin to see a tornado meet a volcano in the last min. With my shield or on it.

Unfortunately that's how a lot of points tournaments work here in the Midwest. You get wrestlers or other people more comfortable with stand up who get points and play it safe so they can win. Fortunately we have a sub only tournament this weekend so those people won't be a problem and Mitrione will get someone to engage if he competes.

Or, Matt could aggressively engage him.. Sure you can blame the system, but its an actual scenario. How to grapple someone who doesn't want to engage and just circles with hand and head fighting. You have to develop dynamic setups so you can even begin to grapple in the first place.

Its more fun when both people are goin for the finish. But its also a blast to fake a shot then jump and wrap your legs around their neck. You're already losing if they're stalling. So what is there to lose.
