    Foot Locks Hurt

So I got this guy in the truck last night while rolling, and was about to try and calf crush him, so I took my non-wrapping leg and pushed it into my heel to help the crank, but the guy quickly grabbed the toes of my wrapped leg and pushed down, making a loud popping sound and most likely giving my MCL a minor sprain. Perhaps I should keep my legs locked instead???

Without video of the roll it is hard to know if something was done wrong, if you could've done something to defend him, or if he had a nice defense to the calf crank. Would be nice to know if anyone else has ran into this problem or knows of this defense. Every time someone doesnt know how to defend the truck and tries to do something back they never feel like they could do worse than my calf cranking.

I have experienced this before. You have to be careful with the wrapping leg in the truck. It seems like you are in control, but remember that leg and knee more importantly are bent at a sideways angle that can be hard on the joint. I have sprained my knee trying to hold someone in truck. it happens. For your issue, I recommend using both legs to bring their foot to you, grabbing the foot and then letting go of the lock to stomp.

Sounds like he was simply pressing your foot down to prevent your shin from cutting into his calf. Maybe go kamikaze? That way you would have your other leg (much stronger than just one arm) pulling his leg into the calf crush.

Did he pull down on ur foot and basically calf crush back on u (and along the way it tweaked the knee)? One of the black belts I train with uses this as a defense against the truck unless u plant both legs on the ground (which in essence removes the calf crush for you, although u can still hit the crotch ripper and banana split).

Sounds like a freak accident. You should be going heel to heel.

I know exactly the move he did to you. Very dangerous move as it is attacking the knee like an inverted heel-hook.. try and be more active with your legs, go from lockdown to lotus and back. Being aware and sensitive to that counter is important. I'm not gonna say its a "good counter" but if your not aware and alert, you can get tapped or injured with the move..

Shouldnt your leg that was stepping on your own heel be free to kick his hand off of your foot as he tries to pull your toes down?

Or he just cranked it really fast?

^ yes. Multiple ways to keep it from happening. That's what I mean by being aware. Now you know about it and you won't have it land on you again because you're more aware.

Thanks guys, really. Yea he cranked it really fast. I was actually cranking his leg when he did it. It wasn't a "let's see who taps first" thing, my knee just straight up popped. I am gonna have to have a better awareness about this because I'm starting to find myself securing the truck a lot more than usual now, even with this semi-bum leg.
