Bruce, you are absolutely right. I think it is mostly my problem with adrenaline. When I am nervous I always rush things. I double bag in the training all the time. I hate while in competition I think my mind goes black and I lose so much my technique. I think it will be easier if I compete more and more. Anywhay Cora doesn´t seem to have similar problem. I think she will have bright future. I wish all the best, keep on the good work

I'm sure you don't go to a tournament by yourself. So have your friend help calm you down in situation like this. For us, its hard enough to get kids in Cora's guard nowadays and especially when they have both hands on the mat. Got to seize the moment...

The only thing that I do is I make sure Cora doesn't rush through situation like this. Once she have someone in mission control, I tell her, she got him now and to take her time and set everything up, make it tight, double bag everything. Once she get to invisible collar, I just tell her to take her time and brake their spirit a little and curl really hard. Then she can transition to anything she wants. Its better to do it the right way the 1st time then to throw up something sloppy really quick and hoping to catch it.
Another situation that's been working great for us is I slowed down her triangle set up. Most of the time I see kids throwing up sloppy triangles from guard and hoping to catch that neck. But when they don't get it, they always get pass. So now when she can't break their posture for rubber guard, we been working on her going from regular close guard shrimp out a little and with one of her leg trap one of their arm and hold on to the sleeve and going back to close guard. I call this the "handcuff". Now all she have to do is sit up and break their posture, as she falling back to the mat, her leg that trap their arm comes to their neck and grab it right away similar to rubber guard. This make a very tight triangle. This way is a longer process to getting the triangle but once you get it, you got it...
