    Thank you!

Today is 12 months since my Dad passed away. This last year has been easily the most difficult of my life. I have shed more tears than probably the 30 odd before it combined. I have an amazing wife, daughter, family and friends that have supported and helped me through it but I also feel blessed to have all of you guys and girls posting daily on here. Without knowing it you have all helped me by contributing to what I believe is the best BJJ place on the net. I come on almost here every day and am constantly inspired by not only the incredible comp videos but also how encouraging and supportive everyone is. I have been lucky enough to meet a few you or interact on twitter/facebook and it blows me away how warm and friendly everyone is.

I don't necessarily feel comfortable claiming 10p family as I don't train regularly with Frank, my rubber guard would best be described as a work in progress and my lockdown is looser that Renato's girlfriends but despite that I know that whenever I do train at 10p Melbourne (hopefully more regularly soon) or interact with any of you I know I will find open minded, friendly, encouraging and amazing people.

In short - thank you all just for being you. You have helped me more than any of you could know or imagine.

Yeah, I have to say thanks to 10P heads too, it's definitely one of the chillest communities I've found.

PS - Sorry about your dad bro, I'm sure he's on your mind all the time; Peace be with you and him. Channel some of the mental energy into some seriously challenging shit. That's what I do -- it helps tame the troublesome thoughts...

    Respect Marty thank you.

There's two distinct types of people in my mind, around my age now, those who have lost a parent and those who haven't. Shit is very hard to come to terms with. Its been 3 yrs for me and I can honestly say the people in my life connected through MMA and 10th Planet have kept me going. I mean my family are great I'm very lucky there but you guys never seem to tire of my whining!! Thanks.

Add to that this year I had my first child who is amazing, but then my girlfriend left shortly after the birth so Jiu Jitsu definitely keeps me going as well as running the gym, you shouldn't get as obsessed with it as me though as with anything you can end up with tunnel vision. Hopefully my trip to Australia will hit my reset button, cus I see big things in 2014. I only lost one match in my weight all year and that was to Luiz Tosta who was a brown belt world champ before I'd ever set foot on the mats. This year I've barely been playing and still come away with medals at every event. So as I say Jiu Jitsu keeps me going I can't let it slip it keeps me centred. Sorry to go off topic I jus wanted to reaffirm I shall be kicking ass on the mats next year no matter what, real life problems only increase your chances of victory if you have Jiu Jitsu in its rightful perspective.

Agreed. Keep it up man. It's the daily struggles that make what we have more precious to us. I believe family and Jiu Jitsu are a few of those precious things to all of us.
