Vladislav Koulikov Sambo & Nogi grappling

I wrote a blog post about Vladislav Koulikov & his Sambo Jiujitsu fusion instructionals. I've trained with a few Sambo guys and Vlad is the real deal. He's got a solid mix of sambo (that he trained since a child in Russia), wrestling, and Nogi grappling. Some of you guys probably are familiar with one of his moves, the Russian Cowboy.

    Check out the article here:

What do you think of Sambo?
Have you incorporated much of Sambo into your game?

I understand everything has its origins and I respect the separate disciplines for their contributions completely. But I no longer separate individual disciplines. Its all grappling. And if it is effective, its incorporated. Period.

So yes, I use sambo, judo, wrestling, bjj, and catch. They are all effective forms of grappling. Which is what I love and feel these labels should eventually just dissipate into the history of the modern form. Submission grappling.

So you're saying Keep what works and discard the rest? Y'all are sounding like Bruce Lee! But yeah, totally agree.
