What do you know about inverting?

I wrote a little piece on inverting in jiu-jitsu. There's a short clip of an inverting drill and a triangle from half guard. Does inverting fit in your game? Some people love it and some people hate it!

I'm a big guy with small guy style, so I like inverting. I really should use it to retain and recover guard though. I only really invert from half guard to play tornado or attack leg locks.

Jake you the man!!! I've only been teaching / drilling the inverted with my daughter recent. And the main purpose was the exact same thing you mention in your article, to not get her guard pass. Besides she has a nack for going inverted. Somehow she really take to spinning on her back and such. So I've spent sometime researching techniques to maximize her flexibility. And also at the same time I came across a post of Andrew McInnes and see how he combined Marcelo's game with all the 10thplanet stuff along with all his inverted Tornado guard stuff. It was a no brainer that I would want to incorporate that into Cora's game. Here is a video of us playing with the inverted after discovering its uses. BTW inverted is not really good for those who have long hair...LOL

I'm not a fan. I began toying with going inverted last year after a seminar by George Hissung. He showed some awesome stuff that I was really excited about. However, the second time my inversion was stuffed resulting in my neck going pop pop pop I decided I'm good on inverting.
