    Lockdown double unders

Hey guys just recently subscribed to MTS, looking a good decision so far looking to add this stuff into my game more.

Anyway having bought 10th planet books and particularly loving the lockdown etc.

So onto my question, so when im rolling with my coach and get the lockdown and double unders (not perfect double unders) and this problem persists even when I do get em. His shoulder pressure is just fucking crushing on my head and keeping me pinned there unable to move...so any tips or pointing me in the direction of counter techniques in the system would be greatly appreciated

Whip up and/or start trying to scoot your ass out to the side a bit.

In order for his shoulder pressure to be that heavy, he has to be leaning his weight toward your head which would make his legs lighter. When you whip up your legs, don't use all core. You'll make it impossible on yourself. Draw your knees to your chest. Whipping the leg around to create openings is really helpful.

Also, I'm wondering, when he's hitting you with shoulder pressure, does he have his arm around your head? One arm or two arms? If it's one arm same side as the lockdown, just trap that arm and roll him over since he has no base. If it's the arm opposite side of the lockdown then he can base with one hand or he can base on his other leg. I would trap his posting hand, stomp to butterfly, and sweep in the direction of the trapped arm.

If he's putting shoulder pressure with no hands around your neck, then he can base on both hands when whipped. IMO, omaha whip is good for that. Whip him over your head so he posts on his hands alleviating the shoulder pressure and giving you space to work. If he's applying shoulder pressure while you have double unders, his weight is toward your head. With the right timing, you can whip, and heisman the armpit on the same side as the lockdown to expose the back and over hook the arm.

If you insist on hitting the lockdown path, then whipping the leg around to get his shoulder pressure off would be key. Also, getting to your side by any means to get perfect doubles. There are a loooot of paths from LD. Back takes. Truck entries. Sweeps. Reps are what count. And feeling your opponent's balance. A lot of guys might expend a ton of energy going for an electric chair when old school is right there, and vise versa. You want to use the right tool for the job. Hammering a screw isn't ideal. And you can't screw a nail.

Anyhow, considering you're a white belt, I can only say that the odds are that your coach is just better than you. LOL. Knowing a path based on observation and independent practice is very different from reallllly knowing the LD path. Good luck in trying though.

If he's pressuring towards the lockdown side play with the whip down/5-0 sweep, or whip down and heisman to electric chair.

    Try for the Godfather.

If nothing's working and he's just smashing let him take the underhook back on the lockdown side and play with the Stomps.

Cheers shall have to try these out the next time I'm rolling with him. All the moves such as rubber guard or the half guard series I've had to learn in my own time and only get to use it when I'm sparring/rolling with people so as you can imagine its hard for me to get a good grip on all this stuff with me as the only person who does it at the gym (Well me and my brother have tried practising them with each other abit) as my coach unfortunately isn't a huge fan of things 10th planet

All great advice!!! Especially playing 5-0 reverse lockdown game.

The most important things when playing on the bottom and getting stacked or smashed is "patience" and "poise". Embrace and expect the squashing, it's all part of the game, don't panic, this is massive
