    My Gracie Nationals Match

I went to a draw but am happy with some of my defense and submission escapes. The guy was strong and giving me a hard time trying to hip out while playing rubber guard, but it was cool having Eddie walk over and do some coaching. I'm definitely going to be working on hipping out when being held down by a stronger opponent.

Feel free to critique. This was my first competition in a little bit after an injury so I was a little nervous leading in but had fun once it got started.

Man, that was a back and forth war. Ur RG looked solid in the beginning but it's still needs more clinching power, dude was too strong for anything less than a tight as fuck RG. You got on top there for a while and even mounted him, that was your opportunity to take it home but it slipped away. Good solid performance tho, work more side control recovery and just keep pushing, you have a lot of potential especially with ur flexibility

Thanks for the feedback and compliments. I rushed too much when I finally got the mount. I could tell he was tired and should have controlled more and worked my go-to finishes instead of rushing. Side control recovery is always near the top of my list of things to keep working on but I still have a looooong way to go. I think I'm going to start all of my rolls in bottom side control now.

Great job Pat. Your game has come a long way.. from the wrestler mindset of never being on your back, to full blown guard player. Master Eddie is right ( like always ) Just keep getting stronger and work the RG clinch. We'll work on fixing the holes. I can't wait to see how your game continues to grow !!
