Agreed for West LA, HQ, Burbank--study your bus and Metro lines thoroughly or just ask around and people will tell you (unless they're crazy homeless people--stay away from them). Make a day of going out to Vista and Costa Mesa. Take the Amtrak down to San Diego. It's a beautiful 2-hr ish ride with a great view next to the ocean.

Thanks! Well making new buddies is reason number 2 for making this trip, so I hope so! Depending on certain factors (mat fees, scheduling, travel logistics, etc), I'm thinking I might not be able to hit all 12-13 gyms I hope to. So far I'm pretty much guaranteed to hit up HQ, West LA, Burbank, SF, Walnut Creek, Portland, and Eugene.

San Francisco public transit is super easy and the better choice of travel, Denny's school is down the block and the street from Mission Street BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport, our metro system), between Muni buses and BART SF is an easy city to navigate.
