Planning my traincation: California public transportation?

So I'm planning out a traincation to LA, San Fran, and Portland/Eugene/Grants Pass for a total of about 3 weeks. So far, the biggest planning issue is transportation. So for the Cali warriors, how's the public transportation in the general L.A. area? I'm planning on hitting up as many moons as possible in that vicinity. Also, how's the public transportation in the San Fran area? Not too worried about Oregon. Have family in Eugene.

LA public transportation will easily get you around Burbank, West LA, and HQ; Van Nuys is a bit of a hassle though. You'll need a car to get from LA to Costa Mesa, Vista, and Riverside.

Definitely man! Still in the planning phase though so there's a lot to have sorted out.

    No metro rails or anything?

Agreed for West LA, HQ, Burbank--study your bus and Metro lines thoroughly or just ask around and people will tell you (unless they're crazy homeless people--stay away from them). Make a day of going out to Vista and Costa Mesa. Take the Amtrak down to San Diego. It's a beautiful 2-hr ish ride with a great view next to the ocean.

It's tougher to make your way out to Riverside and Van Nuys, though. Make new carpooling buddies?

San Francisco public transit is super easy and the better choice of travel, Denny's school is down the block and the street from Mission Street BART (Bay Area Rapid Transport, our metro system), between Muni buses and BART SF is an easy city to navigate. PM if you got any questions on the bay area.

Thanks! Well making new buddies is reason number 2 for making this trip, so I hope so! Depending on certain factors (mat fees, scheduling, travel logistics, etc), I'm thinking I might not be able to hit all 12-13 gyms I hope to. So far I'm pretty much guaranteed to hit up HQ, West LA, Burbank, SF, Walnut Creek, Portland, and Eugene.

    Sweet, thanks!

Definitely. It's only about 30 miles or so from 10PSF so it's a no brainer to get out there
