I have been thinking about how great and different it is that we support each other and post our tournament wins here on this forum, but what about our tournament losses? Wins and losses together could tell us something interesting about the system, our style, our success in different tournaments under different rules and much more but we aren't tracking our stats yet, that I know of.
WHAT IF: after a competition, those who wanted to, would compile their stats from that day and add them in to some kind of record we keep. All I think we care about: Name of Tournament, Win or Loss for each round, if you won or lost by points or by submission and what kind of submission. We might find out that 10P players tend to submit a lot of people from guard, but also tend to get submitted by arm bars. (wild speculation)
We could see which techniques we need to push more and which ones are already rocking people around the world. It would help us also track the success and growth of the system, the win percentages of 10P Players and on and on. I would also guess that based on our style, we would see high % of wins by submission which I think would be cool to prove!
My data for my last tournament would look as follows
Gracie Nationals - Purple - 155
Round 1 win via Arm Bar
Round 2 DQ for lack of submission
What do you all think about this? It could be a lot of work, but even if we get a few of our competitors to start giving data it could tell us a lot.
To start, we could all post our info from gracie nationals and see what it says.
