I heard Ryan Hall say in an interview that he learned inverted triangles by practicing on a dummy ..it got me thinking about the importance of solo drilling

I have a dummy. Its beneficial, no doubt! My flyover passes, M1 passes, KOB, kimuras and armbars are much better now.

Thats the brand I picked up. 2 1/2 years and it is still holding up well, all in all. Put a XL longsleeze compression shirt (~$15 at wal-mart) and you are good to go for no-gi drilling.
