Ive been taught to hold the chopping block position to wear out the opponents arm before you go for the choke.
But what do you think about that sambo move that Joachim Hoff was talking about?

If you're talking about just extending the legs, that might keep them down for a second but as soon as you let go they can go right back to bridging. I suppose it would be good if your up on points and going for the win or if you want to tire them out before attacking. I personally would rather be more offensive and try to control them up high. They cant bridge one way because you can post with your hand, and if they bridge the other way they expose their back or leave themselves vulnerable to an armbar, spiderweb position, cobra control, etc.... Whether your up high on them or down low, you can still get swept. I'd rather get swept with options. Just my opinion

The 2 best answers so far! Lol.

"Position before submission". Make sure you maintain mount before progressing forward. We just discussed this in the leglock thread about leglocks and even a RNC. Skydive mount with a chopping block grip should be nasty enough to hold anyone in the world down for a bit at least. Take your time and work your control. Lots of beginners (even me still) get all excited when they get a sub and dive in head first on it and lose all positioning, which is the only reason that sub came available I'm the first place..
