Avoid Emirates Airline

Anyone flying abroad to the middle east or asia:

Do not use Emirates Airlines.

Shocking, disgusting non existent levels of service.
Add to that when I complained they promised to respond within 28 days, after 2 months had elapsed I emailed them again and they LIED that they had responded within the 28 days when they had not.

Avoid this shambles of a corporate airline. No customer service whatsoever just want to take grands out of your pocket and treat you as a number.

I wont go into all of my grievances here as they are too many to go into but two that stand out are:
1) that all passengers were instructed to replace footwear they had taken off due to complaints about an odour from passengers feet; with the risk of DVT can this possibly be in line with health regulations?
2) They have defended passengers who on landing the plane clutched their tablets, one of which came out of the hands of the person in the seat next to me and landed on me. They actually say its okay for passengers to hold these- are they serious?? I am sure if I got on the plane and insisted I clutched any random piece of fibre glass vfor the duration of take off, flight and landing I would be told in no uncertain terms I could not.

Ridiculous levels of non service, never again. Ruined my holiday.

Wut? Being an RN in an ICU, I've never heard of wearing or not wearing shoes being a factor DVT prevention. There aren't any deep veins in the feet for a clot to form in (or at the very least a clot big enough to do any significant amount of damage). DVT form in the big juicy veins in the upper (quads) and lower legs (calves), but only when people ( more spefically their legs) are immobile for long amounts of time, such as when they are sedated and intubated for days on end in a hospital bed or they are crammed on an airline and don't get up and walk for hours on end.

In the hospital we prevent them with either blood thinners or pneumatic compression sleeves that can start at the calves and go all the way up to the thighs. Two things happen: no blood can stagnate in the legs of the vein due to the compression, and there is a slight release of a natural clot busting chemical released when muscles are compressed like that ( don't remember exact reasoning behind this, but it is more just a neat secondary effect from what I remember.)

The great majority of healthy adults with no history of clotting abnormalities won't have to worry about DVT's while traveling, especially if you can sit comfortably, stretch and move your legs, and can get up every few hours.

tldr: shoes have nothing to do with DVTs.
