it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that soooo many people seem to want a champion who isnt jsut amazing in the cage but a gentleman outside the cage but i mean honestly, were talking about a guy who goes in and destroys people that have trained for years if not decades. now gsp was a gentleman still is i imagine, but at the highest level of competition he could not destroy people.
other side of it is that jones is what? 25 years old? hes been champion for 3 years? he went from a average life where he was barely an adult, practically no money, just getting through college and then baby comes along, and he starts fighting, and he finds that he is spectacularly talented in one of the most primitive basic and challenging forms of compeition (i dont mean primitive in a bad way either btw)
not only that but he starts getting money coming out his ears, girls want to be with him, guys want to be him or beat him, and people are always asking questions about him so hes constantly talking about himself.
now if i was in his position, id be going through a lot of philosophical ideas and id be trying to figure out how this all happened. id be adjusting to all these new things and trying to do what i think is right.
while hes trying to adjsut, he has media in his face all the time, twisting anything he says. (gsp club incident) and now he has to be careful about anything he says and does. sure most of the things weve picked up were stupid but honestly i really dont think id have done much better. and if i cant expect myself to do much better then why should i expect him to?
therefore i say, who cares if hes a douche now and again, the reason im watching him is to see him fight, as long as he contonues to fight like he does then im happy.
and brent, should we lay some bets down on jones vs glover?
