Loving all of the new Lockdown/Electric Chair defense videos

some of the videos are ok, some are not. there will be a new respect for it. new defenses will start popping up. isn't that why we are all with 10th planet though? for the evolution of the art?

Exactly Sean, just cracks me up when guys post 5 year old videos that would have "shut down" Eddie's half guard. They don't understand the evolution. I think they assume all lockdowns are equal and/or they haven't felt a real lockdown. In most of the videos the guy on bottom just lays flat on his back without using his lockdown to control them and more often then not they aren't even doing the lockdown correctly.

I remember during a seminar at 10th Planet Burbank, Jeff Glover demonstrated that very same 'Indian Death Lock', explaining why he wasn't too fond of the lockdown. I'm pretty sure he's a believer by now.

I'm just glad people actually know what the lockdown is about now. I remember seeing all the old videos showing a counter and it was always some silly shit. Just unhook the foot and pull your leg out, lockdown sucks lol. Now people realize that its way more dynamic than just clinching up someones leg and holding them. I agree, it's all for the better for us.

If you allow someone whose good as hell and their "A" game is lockdown to establish it, good luck. I concede electric chair sweeps to salvage my knees. Having said that, I don't just go around giving someone the lockdown for free. You gonna have to earn it and then some. Not allowing them to get to lockdown and being aware of the ways people obtain it is the ultimate preventative measure....or so I think at this time, I do reserve the right to change my opinion. Bring on the lockdown counters though, everyone I train with has had to address it for years now so nothing will change for me.

That's true, but its still interesting to see what they come up with, and how they got there.

I can't recall any detailed instruction on MTS.
