You may find it a very interesting read. The thing that I REALLY don't understand is that people that before talked so much trash about the system after M3 were all believers (HALLELUJAH). Even my own bjj trainer, who is fortunately for me a really open minded dude, was really impressed with the display of system techniques and he with a smile finally admitted that Eddie's shit works which was somewhat a relief to me since I have been forcing his techniques gi and no gi sometimes maybe even overdoing it which irritated him sometimes
Sorry got a bit side tracked, back to the topic at hand. The thing I really don't and will never understand (maybe I am simply too stupid or will never be able to fully comprehend human nature) is the fact that the bullshit stopped for only a millisecond. People I know in real life praised Eddie only to revert back to their old ways after reading articles as the one above. Even Atalla himself praised Eddie after the match only to write this now. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe that this article is a full on assault on the system but what I hate is that until yesterday it was awesome and now Royler is stuck in the 90's and Eddie in 00's. It's basically a way to not directly say that even though I / we (by that I am implying on top level bjj practitioners) kinda admitted that the system is legit we know found and excuse, and that is that Royler is stuck to too much old school shit while Eddie is a bit newer age but still not new enough.
. Now Eddie isn't the main target any more but even attacks on Royler are being made since he doesn't berimbolo, pass guard like Lo, Bucheacha etc.....
Lil ol' stupid me remembers a lot of people talking about sticking to the basics in bjj, just do the basics, master the basics and you will conquer all and it you master them a little more you will become the master of the universe.... Then when the basics fail blame it on not using new shit enoug
How can people be so two faced? This is not in any way an attack on Atalla, I have trained with the dude and he is mellow/chill and truly full of knowledge but I find this "analysis" to be funny. We are all suppose to be a family and when an old "feud" seems to be finally over there are other fire starters that come and light even more fuses for no reason what so ever.
I am a low blue belt so I probably don't know sh** and this ramble has just wasted 5min of your life which you will never get back (sorry for that) but I had to say it. I have never stepped in a 10th gym since there is not one close to me but have been studying it from the techniques web for a bit over a year and trying to implement it in my game. It has truly given me a new perspective on grappling since I am flexible as hell and yes it WORKS (shocking isn't it? :P)
Thank you for this website, for the system and for keeping it real. You have a subscriber for life and hopefully a pupil one day.
