Eddie, what you did at Metamoris 3 was nothing short of incredible!
I have tried to put into words what this event means to all of your 10th Planet students and even after reading it over multiple times I don't think I can do it justice
For years we have all been preaching the positive influence the 10th planet system has had on our grappling game, we have tried to express, show and explain to others how effective your system is. The whole time we were berated, we were discredited and we were ridiculed and mocked by ignorant small minded individuals, teams and associations, so called 'BJJ experts'. They claimed your techniques don't work, they haven't been proven or tested at the highest levels, they were labeled gimmick moves yet the same people claim they are old bjj techniques with 'stoner names' that you stole! Even though you credit where each technique was sourced.
I've heard people say that we shouldn't listen to you because you are a fraud, stoner, you are a conspiracy theorist crackpot, bad influence, someone out to make money through franchising - Everything and anything insulting that could be used against you has been used in full effect!
People have claimed you are disrespectful to Bjj, the Gracie's yet in every interview I have ever heard you give nothing but complete respect to all BJJ pioneers, and nobody more so than the Gracie's!
A huge part of the grappling world was waiting to celebrate your failure at Metamoris so they could claim that they have been saying all along for years how you were a fraud and how you supposedly caught the worlds first, last and only 'lucky' submission. They were ready to finally rid the world of this 10th Planet virus but you made the opposite happen.
When you fought at Metamoris your performance became a victory for every single supporter, 10th Planeteer, hotbox, moon and Moon head.
It was a victory for every single one of us that was told -
'Don't do that'
'That doesn't work'
'That's illegal under these rules'
'You're wasting your time learning that'
'Those moves are too low percentage'
'That only works at the lower levels'
It was beautiful to see you, your system and everything we train validated and to see you finally get some retribution and the long overdue respect you deserve!!!
You silenced all your haters, you made your supporters proud, you opened the eyes of so many easily influenced grapplers, solidified your place in the history books and you did it all with sheer class and an attitude that we can all look up to and emulate. We've all had your back as we would rather listen to the wise words of a visionary than a million voices of closed minded sheep.
Even your white belts around the world were shouting "PUSH, PULL, LOCKDOWN!" at the screens which showed the understanding of your system.
It's been worth putting up with everything for so long just to see you completely dominate Royler at Metamoris 3!
I can't think of anyone who was under any more pressure than you and you rose to the occasion and performed at the highest possible level!
You made each and every one of us proud to display a moon on our chest. No matter what ANYBODY says we will all be eternally grateful for the work you put in to your training and that match to prove us all right in our beliefs.
Nobody deserved this more than you!!
