I am currently at the airport in ATL after spending a little less than two months in Rio training at Gordo's, Milton Viera's, De La Riva, GFT, (missed out on terere's)
10th planet patches on everything, including my gi's. For the most part everyone was pretty cool with it, though a friend borrowed one of my gi's and claimed they were much more insistent on playing crush the gringro when he was wearing it. Also at one point a blackbelt was giving someone advice on how to beat "that 10th planet guy" There was a lot of stalemating with the brown and blackbelts after I had success with some 10thP and most of them (excluding gordo and thiago) failed in trying to crush me, they were content to stay on top and hold. Better that then get swept or subbed by the gringo, much less the 10th Planet gringo.
Leading up to the match there was a lot of talk in the gym about Royler and the first match. In the Connection Rio house though most of the gringos put money on Eddie to win. After the match though there was a whole lot of respect for what Eddie did. Including a few people in Rio asking about the electric chair/vaporizer combo. This is at gordo's the creator of the half guard, people asking about 10th planet half guard. It wasn't long ago that Gordo's half guard was seen to be a fancy technique outside of the normal Gracie Jiu Jitsu and now its the norm. Won't be much longer till 10th planet is the norm.
That and once I stepped off the plane back in the states and was walking through customs, a TSA agent noticed my 10th planet shirt and had been training other martial arts for a while but felt he needed a change and then he saw something online about Eddie and 10th Planet so he was going to start training Jiu Jtsu.
