No shit I was there, Cheering my loudest and losing my shit amongst my 10th Planet Family. When the match ended I was near high, thinking "How fucking awesome was that?" and "Man, Royler got saved by the bell"...

Wait a minute. Wasn't one of the Rules "The Time Won't Stop If The Submission Is Close"?

Having someone locked up in leg lock that they obviously can not escape, whilst cranking said leg and ankle into positions previously thought humanly impossible isn't considered close? Then I really want to hear what Ralek's version of a Submission being close is.

My best guess is either A. They let Royler escape without further damage and the pride of not having tapped. B. It was possible that he actually wasn't going to tap seeing as he was stuck in that for several minute, either changing an angle or attempting to transition to something else may have been the only way to actually "finish" Royler on this particular occasion. Thus potentially not being quite as pressing of a sub attempt as say, super deep in a triangle or fully extended kimura? Just theories, don't like to jump the gun and call people out unless need be.

the only explanation that i could think of was that the rule, time will not be stopped if a submission is close, was only referring to restarting the fight, and not the end of the fight. but in that case then eddie had an electric chair submission attempt and was stopped and restarted so i dunno.
