Most of it was OK. I disagree when they said the "lockdown" is not "street". They incorrectly called it deep half, which is "iffy" for street, however, once the guy throws a punch, if he misses you can get to perfect doubles, which is the same double under clinch they show females all the time to close the distance so the attacker cannot throw strong puches. Try and pucnch somebody that has the electric chair on you, you are going on your back. The "stand and run" from to electric chair top is almost guaranteed. If you get slamed down by an attacker and don't secure full guard but just get the foot, this is a very very street option. Also once Eddie was in the vaporizer he was in no danger of kicks, punches, bites, headbutts, groin shots, or eye gouges. He could have held on for an hour until help arrived, escape was almost non existant. And if escape happens, you get up and run, most people are not running far or fast on that knee!!

Also, I am old and not flexible, but I play RG all the time. Not even close to lotus yet. I cannot force it on anybody like flexible peeps can, but if given the right conditions, dam straight I am going to use it to the best of my ability. I can run the basic path in my sleep, I can muddy waters to Dead Orchard effectively, I can pump to swim move enough to keep them honest. Ican meat hook just enough to slow the pass as long as I am on my side. I also use it effectively enough to get back to my A game "lockdown" as Eddie did with Royler for a split second. It can be about oppoutunity and angles, If someone decides or makes the mistake of staying low in my guard and not controling my hips for split second they are going to be forced to at least deal with the RG options I do have. Which may just end up with me getting lockdown double unders, which I am cool with. I do envy the absurdly flexible (we have some in my class) that can force RG on anyone and I will never stop working toward that, but throwing flying Kung fu from Halfguard is a very lofty goal for me.

They gave Eddie more credit than i would have expected with the electric chair sweep but absolutely discredited the vaporizer submission.

Props to them for doing their best to give a quality break down. Props to them for trying to educate people about BJJ. And they did a good job of trying to maintain neutral in the break down. Seems like Ryron knows a bit more about the moves than Rener based on a couple corrections he made regarding the positions. But I can kind of tell that they're not super familiar with the system. They seemed to be dismissive of the vaporizor. Doesn't sound like they knew that the ankle was also in danger. But whatever.

If Royler's leg is fine, props to him. It obviously hurt. But if it didn't hurt enough to tap, more power to him. Samuel Braga also withstood some vicious calf cranks again Rader. So it's possible to withstand. Wouldn't recommend it. But if guys start believing that they can resist it because Royler did, we're gonna be seeing a new wave of injured believers. LOL.

I like these guys. They did as well as a job as they could of not being biased. We all know exactly what happened that night, thats the important thing. I get what they mean about the whole filter thing but i also see it as a way to save face for their uncle. I've seen these techniques work in mma. Can't said i've been in a mma fight myself but i've done some grapple boxing just to test the system and it worked pretty well for me. Once you get that lockdown good and start whipping them around all they're gonna wanna do is clinch and try not to get swept. If you watch UFC you'll notice not many jiu jitsu guys are getting away with these traditional armbars and triangles anymore the other guy just waits for it and use that shit to pass. Gotta clinch these days, and the rubber guard is great for mma. damn they more i think about this the more i wanna rant. think im gonna do some yoga now

Yeah, I think it actually comes from a lack of in depth knowledge about the positions. R and R are both legit black belts but you can't teach what you don't know.

All that filter talk was pretty much them saying, don't go signing up for any other schools if you've got a gracie academy near your house.

I kind of like what they're saying regarding the filters and I'm not reading in too much.

But listen, those same three filters they're talking about mean that the berimbolo is not that kind of JJ that they're talking about, that Carlos Gracie JJ. Can you see someone doing berimbolos on the street?

Moving on, boom, they get straight to it. Nice.

I think they're being pretty respectful. Not just respectful. Excited. Giving props. I like these guys.

Alright, I get what they're saying but here's the thing.

I just don't think BJJ is great for the street period. It's not a good filter.

You know what is? Gun-jutsu. Pack heat. Rain down steel.

All this talk about half guard vs deep half guard...it's silly. In a multiple attacker scenario (which is likely on the streets), any ground action is probably very bad for you. Have an answer for it, absolutely. But don't think a 3rd degree black belt in BJJ is going to be as good as a brown belt in gun-jutsu.

    Am I wrong?

What do you guys think?
Haha, I'm not so sure. @15:34, Rener is cranking that vaporizer what, 25%? Ryron is getting ready to tap. lol
