10th Planet is desperately needed south west UK

South west England is in dire need... Well I'm in dire need of 10th PJJ down here. The academy I casually train at is run by a Royce Gracie black belt, and after his masters recent escapades, which he unquestionable backs too the hilt, I'm finding myself questioning his teachings. The accusations that Eddie promotes drugs to kids is not only ridiculous but completely absent of proof making them both look very silly (he is even in denial over Royces positive steroid test). Hence why I've decided to vacate that academy. The nearest 10PJJ is Birmingham which I'm visiting next weekend thanks to the very welcome response from Mick Broster (thank again sir), so I'm looking forward to that. But if anyone in south west England reads this or anyone knows someone from the south west is interested in learning the system please hook me up, a partner to drill with in between trips to Birmingham would be awesome. I'm in South West I've been including 10th Planet techniques into our classes. I'm no qualified instructor (although, as one of the more experienced guys on our team I do lead a few classes), I'm a Ronin like you - but if you want to come down and do some 10P together I'm not far from Bristol. Where abouts are you?

I think I know the instructor you're talking about, if so I beat him on points 13-2 in no gi last year. If our system has blue belts schooling Royce Gracie black belts then there's not really much more that needs to be added to the discussion.

Any time you want to visit Birmingham we will make you very welcome. If you want to make the most of it by doing two days and getting some 121 in with Mick Broster then you wont need to worry about accommodation it will be our pleasure mate a 10P Warrior is yet to pay to stay with us.

If you are where I think you are (Plymouth) then I'm half way in-between you and Brum, so if you were willing to take a 5 minute detour I could pay towards petrol too

If I was to train at a Gracie Academy and tried to use 10P techniques I would feel uncomfortable to say the least, and it's sad that you should feel like that. I suppose I'm lucky as the 3 gyms I train at are open to all techniques, especially the ones that happen to work. Surely all bjj players should be working together to make it the dominant martial art it once was as it's the reason, at least for most of us oldies, we started bjj in the first place. Maybe a rivalry is healthier for the evolution of the art as conflict surely is more conducive to the development of more effective weaponry than peace.
