Just got to roll with the master Jean Jaques Machado himself. For real this dude is an alien when it comes to jiu jitsu. The guy uses no strength and just dominates. Eddie put up your JJM videos.
i think this is super cool
Jigoro Kano → Tsunejiro Tomita → Mitsuyo "Count Koma" Maeda → Carlos Gracie, Sr. → Jean Jacques Machado → Eddie Bravo → Nibiru Warriors!
Treasured my time at Machados.Love how Eddie says,"Okkk time!" between live rounds just like JJ. I do the same thing at 10th Planet Portland.Keeping the tradition alive.Absolute God of fluidity. He would look at you with a submission, then pass on to another, look, pass on to another...like 22 times.AWESOME!
This question is for Eddie, with all the controversy between Gi and No Gi, and how you approached your style of teaching. ( Which I believe is fantastic) There had to be a conversation between you and JJ on the topic. What was his feelings on the matter, being he's like your master and stuff, i'm just curious as to how that conversation went.
He talked about how a black belt is a black belt because he or she has mastered the leverage from every position. He then said that when you study a position that you first see the technique, then you think about it, and last you do the technique. Jean Jaques said that you repeat the the move over and over again until you master the leverage, and once that happens the move is with you forever. Then you move on to your next project. He likened mastery to that of your eyes closing if someone were to throw sand in them, he said to master a move or a position means to have that kind of reaction speed. Guys... you have to go train with him.
