Hey guys,
6 month white belt here and just entered my first competition in the 165lb division. Trained hard for 2 weeks and cut 6 lbs the day before weighins (by rolling and not drinking water, it was my first time cutting weight).
I won the first 3 matches by submission, but lost in the final match and took 2nd.
In the first two matches, I was able to get the gogo clinch but they kept pulling their trapped arm out from off the mat.
Won the first match with the weak side omoplata sweep to jean jacques baby arm after losing a couple gogoplata attemps from the gogo clinch. When I went for the baby arm, i initially tried an americana cranking motion but he wasnt tapping so I switched to the regular straight baby arm and got the tap.

The 2nd match, I got the omoplata again, and started cranking on his head like a twister, but the ref said to stop cus spinal cranks weren't allowed, so i switched to an arm triangle choke with the omoplata still locked in and got the tap.

The 3rd match, I pulled lockdown to electric chair sweep, passed to twister side and mounted and scored a shit ton of points. At 1:10 minutes in, check out the "whip, suck, uppercut, duck" sequence from the warm ups, lol and at 3:17 check out the kimura attempt to farside armbar/spiderweb to armcrush fail. This shit was funny because George Jauregui from HQ was coaching me, and he kept screaming "hit the douchebag! douchebag!" and I could hear the spectators and coaches saying "WTF is a douchbag?" I managed to get the tap with a sloppy mystery pass to americana at the very last second of the 5 min match.
Big shout out and thanks to Jared Carlsten for tightening up our rubber gaurd and lock down at Systems training center, Pedro Munhoz, Rob, Albert, Javel, Alex, "Yakuza", Patrick and all the beasts at HQ and Systems who smashed me in preparation for this competition, and of course big thanks to Eddie Bravo! (Its all about that MTS!)
